Matrix

Questions like “when did this side character last show up?” or “how many events happen at this place?” are hard to answer by opening cards one by one. The Matrix lays a board's cards out as rows and one property's values as columns, with a dot wherever a card has that value, so following one character's column down shows which events they're in and where they drop out for a long stretch.

Say you spread the “Characters” property of your Events board into columns. Vincent and Raon become columns, and a long empty stretch in Raon's column jumps out. Empty cells stand out too, so you also spot what you haven't filled in yet.

Opening the matrix

Press Matrix in the switch at the top right of a Board type.

Choosing the property for the columns

Pick it from the Columns dropdown left of the switch. With a relation property, the nodes of its type become columns; with a select property, its options do.

Adding and removing by cell

  1. Press an empty cell to add that value to the card — press Raon's cell in the “The Seal Cracks” row to add Raon to that event.
  2. Press a dot to remove the value.

Each group row shows how many of its cards hold the value, so you can tell how often it comes up group by group.

Hiding and ordering columns

  1. Hide a column with Hide in its name's ⋯.
  2. In the ⋯ at the top › View › Matrix, drag columns into order or bring hidden ones back.

Paging through a wide matrix

When the matrix is wider than the screen, page sideways with ← → in the corner above the name column or the ← → keys.

Handling several cards at once

Tick cards with the checkboxes on the left to bring up the same bar as in the table, then choose pin, unpin, delete, or Export ›.

  • If you don't pick a property under Columns, the one that fills the most cells shows first.
  • Dots take the node type's or option's color.
  • Column order is remembered for each property you pick under Columns.
  • The name column stays pinned on the left as you page sideways.
  • Tick a group row's checkbox to select every card in that group.
