World Setting

The World Setting is where you write down what holds for the whole work rather than for any one character or place: the era of the story, the stage it plays out on, the social order its people live under, the rules that hold for everyone. Each Space has one. It sits at the top of the sidebar's World area, and you edit it like an ordinary document.

How the era and stage you settle in chat get there

Settle the frame of the whole work in chat — “let's set it in the present day” — then run Organize World, and it is written into the World Setting. So you don't need to note the era on every character or place. You can also ask the agent to change the World Setting. Press Update on the World Setting card in its reply, and the change goes in.

FAQ

When does the agent read the World Setting?

When the draft or answer it's about to write leans on the era and stage of the whole work. That way the era you decided early on carries into later drafts.
