Property start and end
As the story moves, a character's age or allegiance changes, and so does a place's ruler. Property start and end keeps those values instead of overwriting them: each value records the manuscript page or Board type card where it starts and ends, so whichever chapter you're working on, you see the value for that point right away.
Say Vincent quits hunting and becomes a woodcutter after the event “The Seal Cracks”. Instead of rewriting his occupation as woodcutter, you end “Hunter” at that card and start “Woodcutter” there. Both values stay together in one field, so when you revise an earlier chapter you don't have to look up what he did back then.
Changes worth a sentence — what a character went through or learned — go in Section progression; short values you compare in a table are handled here.
Editing and adding values
- Press a property, like Vincent's “Occupation”. The field turns into a one-line input, with a panel just below listing its values under Values N.
- For text and number properties, the value that holds at this point in the story is already in the input. Edit it and press Enter. Other values gather under Other values N.
- To add another value, press New value at the end of the panel. The input clears, ready for the new value.
Adding a start and end
- Hover a value's row in the panel and press . New source appears under From and Until.
- Pick a manuscript page or board card from the list. It's linked at once and the list closes.
If a value already has a start or end, they show when the panel opens; if not, open them with From · until.
Changing it in chat
Name a node, property, and value — “change Vincent's job to woodcutter” — and the agent changes it in its reply.
- “He quit hunting after ‘The Seal Cracks’” — name a card and the old value ends at that card while the new one starts there.
- “Vincent's a woodcutter now” — without a card, the new value is added beside the old one.
- An end can take several pages or cards; remove them one at a time with the in the corner.
- The value reads like 80 ( 01 · Event 1.2 → Event 2.1), and an end left open reads From the start or Until now. Exported files and History rows read the same way.
- If a card or page at an end is deleted, that end stays as Deleted.
- Not just text and numbers: select values and relation properties take a start and end too.
- For relation and select properties, typing just two letters narrows both the values and the candidates.
- Hover a value's row for and ; a relation value's name links to that node.
