Graph type

As characters and factions multiply, it gets hard to hold in your head who is tied to whom, and how. A node type made as a Graph type draws its nodes as points and their relations as lines, showing a character map or a faction layout in one picture.

Say you open the graph for your Characters type: Vincent and Raon are points, and the relation between them is a line. If Vincent connects to a node of another type — the faction he belongs to, say — that node is drawn too, so relations across types appear in the same picture.

Opening the graph

  1. Press All on the node type in the sidebar.
  2. The relation graph appears above and the type's list of nodes below, on one screen.

Following a relation

  1. Press Vincent in the graph. A small window shows how he connects to the other nodes on screen — relations and in-text links.
  2. Press a name in the window to go to that node.

Choosing what the graph draws

Under View › Graph in the ⋯ at the top, turn on or off the node types drawn alongside, node labels, and property edges.

Viewing the list as cards or a table

Flip the node list below the graph between views with the [Cards | Table] switch at the top right of the list.

  • Cards — each node on one card with its name and main properties. Pick the properties under View › Cards in the ⋯ at the top.
  • Table — nodes as rows and properties as columns. Set the columns and the grouping under View › Table. Press a node relation cell to expand the related nodes underneath.

In the table, choose Group by this property in a column name's ⋯ to group the rows by that property's values.

Handling several nodes at once

In the table, select several nodes to pin or delete them at once, or send just those to a file with Export › on the bar.

  • Each type remembers whether you chose cards or table.
  • If you don't pick card properties, cards show the two properties filled in most often.
