Outline
Before a draft is written, the agent draws up a Draft plan (page_outline), shows it as a card, and waits for your answer. At this stage it only plans — it doesn't write a single word of prose.
Two things on the card are editable.
- Outline: One item is one stretch of the draft. The first line of an item is what happens in that stretch; the bullets under it are how to write it.
- Length: The target length. When the request does not set one, it follows the reference length written into that manuscript's Writing Style.
If the plan is not right, ask for changes — the agent edits the same card. When it reads the way you want it, press Write as is on the card. Writing starts from the plan as you edited it.
Drafting
Press Write as is and the draft subagent (page_writer) takes over the plan and writes it. It follows the Writing Style assigned to that manuscript and the length target.
Ask for a draft in the chat — “write the next page”, “continue from here”. The agent hands the subagent the World nodes the passage needs, and the subagent reads the text around the spot on its own: for a new manuscript page or an addition to a page, what comes right before it; for a rewrite, the text being replaced.
A draft lands as a new page, or is added to the end of an existing page. The line at the bottom of the draft card shows where — the manuscript or folder, the page name, and Continue when it adds to a page — and once it's saved, Open at the right end of that line takes you there. With Edit permission on Proceed automatically, the draft is saved into the editor as soon as it is written; on Ask first, it is saved when you press Create or Continue on the card. To put it somewhere else, ask the agent to move it.
Ask it to rewrite, shorten, or lengthen text that is already there, and it reads that text first and plans from it. To replace existing body text, press Overwrite, and the earlier version is kept in History.
Can I use a different Writing Style for this one draft?
Yes. Instead of the style assigned to the manuscript, pick a Writing Style for this draft alone, and point to other pages to draw on at the same time.
Can the agent write a Documents page?
Yes. Ask for an outline, a summary, a character profile, or a lore note, and the draft subagent (page_writer) writes it and saves it as a new page in Documents, apart from the manuscript. A Documents page has no Writing Style of its own; to have it written in one, name the style in your request.
Can I tell it which characters and lore to draw on?
Yes. Name the World nodes — characters, places, lore — in your request, and the agent hands those nodes to drafting and Revision so the writing follows them. Name other pages for it to draw on the same way.
