History & Restore

History is how you bring back earlier content. Compare versions and restore one — for pages and for the World alike.

Page History

Press History in the editor toolbar and a panel opens beside the body text, so you page through the record while looking at the page.

• Compare and restore: Compare an earlier version against the current one, and go back to it with Restore this version.
• Automatic saving: A version is saved automatically just before an AI draft is applied and just before Revision is applied.

Taking a snapshot

Use New snapshot in the History panel to save a state you want to keep, right then and there. Versions saved this way are marked as the Snapshot type in the list, so they are easy to pick out among the automatic saves.

Reverting from chat

You can leave it to the agent. Say “put that page back the way it was this morning” or “undo what I just wrote” and the agent finds the saved version and reverts the whole page (page_version_restore).

• With Edit permission on Ask first, the revert waits for your approval; on Proceed automatically it goes straight through. Either way, a line in the chat names the page and the version it went back to.
• It always puts back the whole page. To change only one part, ask for Revision instead.
• What gets replaced is kept as a new version too, so if you dislike the result you revert it the same way.
• If the page was open, the editor view changes with it. If unsaved edits are in the way and the view cannot change, the agent tells you so.

Reverting puts an existing page back to an earlier version; a page you deleted comes back from the Archive instead — see Archive and restore.

When the connection drops

Pages save automatically as you write. If the connection drops, the changes that could not be sent are kept in this browser, and a warning icon is shown next to the page's name at the top of the page until the server has them.

• When the connection comes back, the kept changes are sent on their own. Close the window in the meantime and they come back the next time you open the page in the same browser.
• If the page was changed somewhere else in the meantime, a notice says the content differs from the page saved on the server. Load brings in the side that is not on screen: the version on the server if your changes are showing, your kept changes if the server's version is showing. ✕ keeps what is on screen.
• If saving fails while you are online, a notice offers Retry and ✕. ✕ drops your changes and loads the version on the server.
• If the browser cannot keep the changes, TypeTak tells you so; they are lost if you close the window.
