History & Restore

Sometimes, deep in a rewrite, yesterday's sentence starts to look better. History lets you compare earlier versions of a page with what you have now and go back to the one you like.

Going back to an earlier version

  1. Press History in the editor toolbar. A panel opens beside the body text, so you can page through the record while looking at the page.
  2. Pick a version and compare it with the current text.
  3. Press Restore this version and the page goes back to that version.

A version is saved automatically just before an AI draft or a Revision is applied. If you don't like what the agent changed, you can go straight back to it.

Taking a snapshot

When you have a state you want to keep, save it on the spot with New snapshot in the History panel. Versions saved this way are marked as the Snapshot type in the list, so they're easy to pick out among the automatic saves.

Having the agent revert it

Say “put the chapter 3 page back the way it was this morning” or “undo what I just wrote,” and the agent finds the saved version and reverts the whole page (page_version_restore). A line in the chat names the page and the version it went back to.

If you don't like the result, revert it the same way. What was there before is kept as a new version too.

  • With Edit permission on Ask first, the agent's revert waits for your approval. On Proceed automatically, it goes straight through.
  • The agent always reverts the whole page. To change only one part, ask for a Revision instead.
  • If the page was open, the editor view changes with it. If unsaved edits keep the view from changing, the agent tells you so.
  • You can compare and restore earlier versions of the World too. (World history)
  • Reverting puts a page that still exists back to an earlier version. A page you deleted comes back from the Archive. (Archive and restore)
  • What happens to your writing when the connection drops is covered in Autosave.
