Agent tools

The longer your work gets, the harder it is to tell the agent which page to look at every time you ask for something. Agent tools let the agent find, read, and write the manuscript, documents, and World in your Space itself, and hand big jobs such as Drafting, Revision, Proofreading, and Organize World to subagents, each dedicated to its own job, that show you the result.

Start a job from an editor button or a chat request, and what the subagent produced appears as a proposal. Whether a proposal goes in right away or waits for your approval is chosen under Edit permission. (Edit permission)

Having it find and read

Just say something like “find the scene where Vincent first meets Raon.” The agent finds the pages and nodes it needs to answer a question or write a passage, so even in a long work you don't have to attach context each time.

It knows which page you're on and reaches beyond it as needed, with page find and read (page_find, page_read) and World node find and read (world_find, world_read). It also reads the open comments in the body text (comment_read), and counts the characters and words of a page or a run of chapters (page_length).

Having it search the web

When it needs current information or research, the agent searches the web (web_search), shows what it found and the Sources it used, and uses it in its answer.

Handing off a draft

The draft subagent (page_writer) writes the draft from the plan on the draft plan card. Editing the plan and starting with Write as is is covered in Outline & drafting.

Handing off a Revision

The revision subagent (page_editor) reads the writing end to end and points out what to fix.

  1. Ask for a Revision.
  2. The sentences to fix get underlines and comments, along with proposed replacements.
  3. For each one, keep the original or take the proposed sentence. You can also apply them all at once, or revert them all.

Leave comments in the body text, then ask the agent to “fix it the way the comments say” — it reads the open comments and edits to match.

Handing off Proofreading

The proofreading subagent (fix_spelling_grammar) checks the whole page for spelling, grammar, and awkward phrasing.

  1. Ask in the chat — “proofread chapter 1.” Each page gets its own progress line.
  2. Press Open at the end of the line to go to the first correction.
  3. Spelling and grammar errors are marked in red and awkward phrasing in gray. Read the short explanation on each proposal, then apply it or ignore it.
  4. To apply every correction at once, press Apply all (N).

To stop partway, press Stop. It halts within seconds, and the bar above the editor goes away with it. The full flow of checking and applying fixes is in Spell check.

Having it organize the World

The Organize World subagent (world_writer) files the characters, places, and lore from conversations and the manuscript into World nodes. There are three ways to hand it the job.

  • Straight in: Ask for something to go into the World — “Raon is Vincent's older brother. Add that to the World” — and it's organized in that same reply.
  • Pick from under a reply: Ask the agent for new characters, places, or rules, and a Save to the World backlog? row with a checkbox per idea appears under its reply. Tick the ones you want and press Add to backlog, or press Organize now to organize them on the spot.
  • From the World backlog: Lore that came up in passing and manuscript pages you wrote or imported that aren't in the World yet wait in the World backlog below the chat input. Press Organize to check what will go in and start organizing.

Say “what's in the World backlog?” or “drop that item”, and the agent reads the World backlog and removes items from it (world_backlog). The whole flow is in Organize World.

Having it organize pages and folders

Say “rename the Lore folder to Worldbuilding” or “add this document to the manuscript as its last chapter,” and the agent carries it out with page and folder organizing (structure_writer). It creates, renames, moves, and deletes folders, document pages, manuscripts, chapters, and the pages inside a chapter. The agent also uses it to put a draft you already have into another page or a new chapter.

With Edit permission on Ask first, a card listing each change on its own line appears first, and approving applies it as shown. What was applied stays in the chat, one line per change.

Having it roll a page back

Say “put that page back the way it was this morning” or “undo what you just wrote,” and page restore (page_version_restore) puts the whole page back to an earlier version saved in its History. To change only one part, ask for a Revision instead.

What gets replaced is kept as a new version too, so if you don't like the result, roll it back the same way.

Having it draw a canvas

Say “draw a relationship map of Vincent and Raon,” and the canvas-drawing subagent (canvas_writer) draws a Canvas from your World nodes and the pages you point to. World nodes go on as node cards, and the links between them become connectors. Unlike the other subagents, it draws straight away instead of showing a proposal.

Having it write the Writing Style and agent docs

The Writing Style subagent (writing_style_writer) writes the Writing Style, and the agent doc subagent (system_doc_writer) writes Guidance, the World Setting, and the World Organizing Rules. When the agent offers an Update button in a reply, press it and what you just discussed goes into those documents.

Checking what the agent referred to

  • In a reply: What the agent read folds into one line above the reply, such as Read: World, Manuscript ⌄. Expand it to see one line per read. (Chat)
  • In the World: On a World node's screen, press Source beside a piece of lore to jump to the manuscript page or conversation it came from.
  • Apply all (N) fixes the whole long page, including what's off screen, and a single undo reverts all of it.
  • Page and folder organizing can copy document pages only.
  • Whatever page and folder organizing deletes goes to the Archive. Within the same conversation, ask and it restores it; anything else you restore from the Archive yourself.
  • When the agent redraws a canvas you already have, the cards it replaces go to the Archive.

FAQ

Does the agent look at chapters from much earlier?

Yes. The agent opens and reads whichever chapters a request needs, so earlier chapters count too. Name the chapter, as in “check what Raon said in chapter 12,” and it reads that chapter directly. Characters and lore settled in earlier chapters carry into drafts and replies without reopening those chapters once you put them into the World with Organize World.
