Major Updates

World — A Knowledge Graph for Your Story

Organize the characters, places, settings, and concepts of your story in World. The agent draws on it when writing and answering, so settings hold together across a long piece.

• World starts empty. Create the node types your project needs, or ask the agent to. A type is either a graph (nodes joined by relation lines) or a board (cards laid out in named groups).
• Each node is built from properties (Plain, Number, Select, Node relation) and sections (free-form prose). A number property holds an exact value, a range, or an approximate value, with a unit.
• Give a value a span (a start and an end) and a fact that changes over the story is kept per period instead of being overwritten.
• Link nodes with relations (part of / follows / related to), and turn on reverse sync so the linked node records the same relation automatically.
• Type [[ in a section to link another node, and see where the current one is referenced from in backlinks. Register search keywords so the agent recognizes a node under other names.
• Settings the agent organizes carry their source. Click the chip to jump to the manuscript page or conversation it came from.
• Read one type through table, graph, and board lenses. Property visibility and grouping, relation lines and node labels, zoom — each is yours to set.
• A deleted property or section stays marked "deleted" and can be restored along with the values that were stored in it.

Edit and Approve the Draft Plan Before the AI Writes

Before drafting, the agent puts up a draft plan and waits. On the card you can edit the outline (what happens in each stretch and how to write it), where it saves (which manuscript and chapter), and the length — and once you approve, the draft is written from exactly what you approved. If the plan isn't right, ask for changes; the agent revises the same card rather than putting up a second plan. The draft auto-saves to the editor, and you can move where it saved before committing. Replacing existing text takes an explicit Overwrite, and the previous version is preserved in your page history.

Edit Permission and Approval Cards

Everything the agent would change in your work goes through edit permission. Set it to Ask first and a draft plan, a World node or node type, your Writing Style, Guidance, World Editing Rules, or a page overwrite stands as a card for you to approve or reject. Set it to Proceed automatically and the work runs, with a report of what it did. Each card shows its outcome — approved, rejected, running, failed, or stopped.

Manuscripts · Chapters · Pages

Your writing is grouped into a manuscript, and inside it divided into numbered chapters. A chapter is usually one page, but a long one can hold several.

• Add the next chapter, add a page inside a chapter, split a page into a chapter of its own, rename, delete, or change a number.
• If the number you want is taken, you're told which chapter has it and that everything in between shifts by one, before you confirm.
• Assign a document page into a manuscript or unassign it — unassigning doesn't remove the page, it only loses its number.
• A space can hold more than one manuscript, so a main story and a side story live together.
• Open a manuscript or your documents as a table to take it in at once and act on several pages together.

The Agent Organizes Your Structure

Ask in the chat and the agent creates, renames, moves, and duplicates pages and folders; creates manuscripts and assigns or unassigns pages; and adds, renames, deletes, and reorders chapters. With edit permission set to "Ask first," it shows you the plan first.

A Unified Manuscript Editor

Write a long manuscript in one continuous view. Scroll straight through it, and select and edit across the whole thing. Long pasted text is placed for you. Turn on typewriter mode and the line with your cursor stays at the vertical center of the screen.

Revision · Proofreading · Feedback · Comments

• Revision: the agent suggests sentence-level edits inline, each with a comment and a replacement. Apply them one at a time, all at once, or clear them all.
• Proofreading: checks the whole page for spelling, grammar, and unnatural expressions. Basic errors and unnatural phrasing are marked in different colors, each suggestion carries a short explanation, and you can filter to basic errors only.
• Feedback: points out strengths, weaknesses, consistency, and concrete improvements. Points about specific lines can land as revision marks right where they apply.
• Comments: attach threaded comments to your text, with replies, resolve, and delete — plus page comments that aren't tied to a sentence. Mark your text up and ask the agent to revise accordingly; it reads your comments and edits to match.
• Comment and history panels: they stand beside your text, listing every comment on the page and its change history. Toggle the highlights and show resolved comments from there.

Agent Chat

• Model: choose GPT or Gemini. An approximate cost rate for the choice is shown alongside.
• Queue: anything you send while a response is streaming is queued instead of interrupting — it waits above the input and goes out as a new message when the turn ends. Several queued messages go out as one.
• Web search: when a request needs a fact from outside your project, the agent searches the web and shows what it found and the sources it used.
• Runs in the background: a request keeps running after you leave the conversation, and you're told when it finishes.
• Branching: the branch button beside each AI reply forks the conversation from exactly that point, and you can return to the original at any time.
• File attachments: for each file, choose whether it is saved as a page or attached as reference only.
• @page mentions bring a specific page in as context.

Per-Manuscript Writing Styles

Register a writing style and assign it to a manuscript. The agent follows it when drafting, revising, and giving feedback.

• A manuscript has one writing style, and one style can be shared across manuscripts. Swap it at any time.
• Each style sits on a preset (Novel, Web Novel, or none) that supplies the built-in conventions underneath it. The manuscript type you pick when creating a space becomes its initial value.
• A single draft can follow a different style, or consult another page you name.

Guidance and World Editing Rules

• Guidance: your preferences for how the agent works ("keep dialogue concise," "don't summarize, just continue"). A user-global document that applies across every space.
• World Editing Rules: the rules the agent follows when writing into World, set per space.
• After a conversation the agent offers "Update", bringing World, Writing Style, Guidance, and World Editing Rules up to date with what you just discussed.

Canvas

A canvas page for placing cards freely and joining them with connectors.

• Give a card a shape (rectangle or ellipse), a color, and text alignment, and put several into a group so they move together.
• Place World nodes on a canvas to build the layout from characters, places, and story nodes you have already organized.
• Regions made by splitting the axes are tinted behind the cards, so where you put a card carries meaning on its own. Grid display and zoom are supported.
• Link a page to a card and clicking it takes you there.

Skills

Turn frequently used tasks into reusable skills. Run one by picking it with / in the chat, by naming it, or by giving it an agent trigger so the agent runs it when the condition is met. Import skills from the gallery and publish your own. Try it shows you the output before you rely on it.

Ask the Agent to Put a Page Back

Say "put that page back to how it was this morning" or "undo what you just wrote", and the agent finds the saved version you mean and restores the whole page. A restore runs without asking first and tells you afterwards, even with Edit permission set to "Ask first." A restore is itself undoable, so the chat gets a line saying which page went back to which point in time. The content it replaced is kept as a version of its own, so you can undo it the same way. If the page was open, the editor updates with it. When unsaved edits are in the way and the screen can't be updated, it tells you so.

Restore a Deleted Account Within 30 Days

Sign in again with the same account within 30 days of deleting it, and Typetak tells you it was deleted and offers to bring it back. Restore it and your spaces, manuscripts, World, and history are all there as you left them. It doesn't ask for your ID and password again — signing in was already the proof that the account is yours. After 30 days the account and its data are erased for good.

Spaces

"Project" is now Space. Start from an idea on the home screen, import writing you already have, or start empty. Starting from an idea opens a planning conversation that fills your World as you talk.

AI Toolbox Is Now Skills

The "AI Toolbox" has been reworked into Skills. The old toolbox routes lead into the Skill view inside your space.

Canvas and Board

The former "Board" is now Canvas. Board now names a kind of World node type — the view that lays cards out in named groups.

Archive

The "Trash" is now the Archive. Deleted items are grouped by where they came from — manuscript, document, World, canvas — and beyond pages and folders you can restore World nodes, node types, property and section slots, and canvas cards, groups, and connectors. The archive keeps what you put in it until you delete it yourself. A scene you cut or a character you set aside is material you may want back later, so nothing leaves on a timer. Deleted spaces are brought back from Settings > Space, with no time limit either.

Extra Capacity Moves Both Ways

Raise and lower Extra Capacity in units. Raise it for a busy month and lower it again afterwards, and what is left of this cycle's capacity stays yours when you lower it. The smaller amount applies from the next cycle.

The Subscription Screen Tells You Where You Stand

Subscription settings state your current status in one line under the plan name — when it renews, how long you can keep using it if you cancelled, whether you are on a free trial, whether a downgrade is scheduled for the next renewal, and whether a coupon period is running. A failed card payment or a paused subscription gets a notice of its own. When there is no subscription to manage, the "Subscription" tab in settings is locked and opening settings from the avatar menu takes you to "Account".

Export and Import

• Export manuscripts and documents as PDF, DOCX, TXT, or EPUB. Merging into a single file works for all four; splitting per page works for DOCX and TXT. Put page titles inside the document, start each page on a new sheet, and watch the progress as it runs.
• Import supports several files at once and whole folders, and importing into an existing page lets you overwrite it or bring it in as a new page.

Search

Search your documents and manuscript by content, see how many pages matched, and jump straight there. Within a page, find and replace counts which match you're on out of how many.

Settings, Reorganized

Settings are now tabs in one window — Display, Editor, AI, Rephrase, Subscription, Space, and Account.

Max Plan

Max provides detailed model settings (a model and thinking level per feature and subagent), about 5× the base capacity with extra capacity going further, unused capacity carried over up to one cycle's worth, and roughly double the history retention. The Premium plan is now Max, and "credit" is now capacity. When capacity runs out, AI features pause until the next billing cycle — or purchase Extra Capacity to continue right away.

Minor Changes

• The cursor AI menu appears whenever your cursor is in the text, and the tools that build a passage out are grouped as Enhance (Style · Scene · Length).
• Rephrase lets you set how many alternatives to produce (up to 6), a fixed request applied to every output, and a per-output request.
• Ask, Rephrase, and Add comment can be bound to editor keyboard shortcuts.
• Set a preferred response language so the agent always answers in the language you choose.
• Choose what the agent shows while it works — a constellation or "thinking."
• Give each World node type its own color.
• Set the sort order, item count, and background fill for each sidebar section.
• Proofreading and revision marks can be shown in a muted color, and the colors you pick can be adjusted for contrast against the current theme.
• Scroll buttons jump to the top and bottom of a page.
• The feedback and proofreading buttons carry tooltips (feedback around what's on screen / proofreading for the whole page).
• Choose in settings whether toolbar feedback also places revision marks on the page.
• A version is saved automatically right before an AI draft is applied and right before revisions are applied; "Save version manually" lets you stamp one yourself.
• The Characters feature has been discontinued. The information registered there was backed up as documents and can be found in the Document area; characters are managed as World nodes of a character type.
• The dedicated story planning screen is gone; story structure lives as World story nodes, board types, and table-template pages.
• For very long content, PDF export is limited and you're pointed to DOCX or TXT.
• Character and word counts stand together below the editor, as characters (words).
• Stopping proofreading or revision partway leaves the marks in your text, so you can pick up where you stopped.
• Proofreading and revision run from the chat without opening the editor are counted too.

Major Updates

Character Auto-Organization History

You can now view the history of AI-organized character profile changes. Click the history button on the character page to see a list of AI organization sessions. Each session shows which items were added and which were replaced. You can also undo changes from a specific session.

Novel Writing Mode Length Optimization

When no length target is set, AI now writes freely without constraints. When a target is specified, the draft budget is distributed across individual beats so the output better follows the target length.

Planning Mode AI Improvements

AI now adapts its responses based on how complete your story plan is. Early in planning, it prioritizes filling core elements. Once the plan is complete, it shifts to feedback mode. During character exploration, it suggests diverse directions that don't overlap with existing settings.

Inline Character Editing in Story Planning

You can now change a character's role and archetype directly from character cards in the Story Planning screen using dropdown selectors, without navigating to the character detail page.

Story Plan Reset

You can reset your entire story plan or a specific character profile through AI chat by saying things like "start over" or "reset."

Improved Character Recognition Accuracy

Duplicate character creation from different name mentions has been reduced. AI no longer infers aliases that don't appear in the text. Background analysis now recognizes the same character more accurately across multiple pages.

Interactive Choice Block UX Improvements

Items in checklist-style choice blocks are now saved immediately when clicked. The last choice block automatically expands to show all content. You can proceed without selecting any items.

Find and Replace UI Improvement

The previous/next navigation buttons in Find and Replace are now always visible. When there are no matches, the counter shows 0/0 and buttons remain in place for a more stable layout.

Minor Changes

• "Continue Novel" has been renamed to Write Novel.
• The main character tooltip now reads "Automatically organizes profiles based on your story."
• Recommended plot milestones changed from "minimum 3" to "2-3 recommended."
• AI now follows your writing style profile more strongly.
• Plan description text layout has been improved with better line breaks.

AI now recognizes information registered in AI References more accurately. When you edit reference content, changes are automatically reflected.

Improvements

Character Profile Integration

Character profiles now display character traits, event ideas, and character paths all on a single screen. Previously, you had to switch between tabs. Now the "All" tab shows every item together, and you can add events or character paths directly from the same view.

Plot Structure Change

The existing 5-stage structure (exposition, rising action, crisis, climax, denouement) has been replaced with a unified Plot Structure (starting point, milestone, ending). This structure is more flexible for serialized formats.

Improved Additional Credit Usage Log

Additional credit usage is now displayed per transaction instead of daily totals. You can view individual usage records, categorized as Novel Writing, Planning, General, and Editor. An explanation of how credits are consumed has also been added.

Analysis Quota Status Display

The AI Reference settings screen now shows the remaining analysis quota. A warning message appears when the quota is low or exhausted.

Markdown Shortcut Settings

You can now toggle automatic markdown syntax conversion in editor settings. Episode pages and document pages have separate toggles. Input patterns like -, 1., #, **, * are automatically converted to formatting. Off by default.

Improved AI Language Detection

AI language detection has been improved. The language you type in is now prioritized, so AI responds in the correct language more reliably.

Minor Changes

• The "Generate All" button has been renamed to Write, and "Continue Generation" to Continue Writing.
• Long character basic info values are now clamped to 2 lines, expanding fully when editing.
• AI Reference has been added as a source type in character settings.
• Pages with AI-generated drafts now show a NEW badge in the sidebar.
• An alert icon is now displayed when the analysis quota is exceeded.
• Pro and Premium plan descriptions have been updated for clarity.

Novel Writing Mode Revamp

The Novel Writing Mode workflow has been redesigned. Previously, AI suggested multiple plot choices for the user to pick from before generating text. Now, AI shows an outline first and then writes the draft directly. Writing flows more smoothly without the extra selection step.

Draft Version Comparison

When the draft length doesn't match the target, AI automatically adjusts it. After adjustment, you can compare the previous version with the current version to see exactly what changed.

Improvements

Better Intent Detection in Planning Mode

AI in Planning Mode now understands your requests more accurately. Cases where AI attempted unnecessary setting changes have been reduced. Feedback requests now receive more structured responses.

Auto-Save for New Settings

When AI proposes a new setting (story or character) that doesn't already exist, it is saved automatically without requiring a click. Updates and deletions to existing values still require confirmation as before.

• The Review button has been removed from the editor text selection menu.
• Fixed the brainstorm block "Next" button not disappearing after confirmation.

Unified Planning Mode

The previous "Story Mode" and "Character Mode" have been merged into a single Planning Mode. You no longer need to switch between separate modes — story structure design and character ideation now happen naturally within one conversation. You can also ask general questions unrelated to planning and get detailed answers. The demo label has also been removed.

Improvements

Better AI Quality in Planning Mode

The AI in Planning Mode has been broadly optimized. It is now less likely to fabricate non-existent settings (hallucination), and responds in a more natural tone instead of robotic, AI-like phrasing.

Characters Shown in Story Planning

Up to 5 main characters now appear on the story planning screen, sorted by role — even if they weren't created in Planning Mode. You can check each character's role and archetype at a glance, and a hint is displayed when a character already has setting cards on the character page.

Bulk Selection and Deletion

Checkboxes have been added to all story elements — including overview items, world settings, and character cards that previously lacked them. Select multiple items and delete them at once.

Improved Interactive Block UX

AI-proposed addition, update, and deletion blocks now use a card-based design. Click a card to confirm the change instantly — the separate approve button has been removed for faster decisions. Values like roles and archetypes are displayed as readable names. Interactive blocks now also work outside of Planning Mode, so you can confirm additions and updates in any conversation.

More Accurate Proofreading

The proofreading feature has been optimized for improved accuracy in grammar and spelling corrections.

Better Writing Polish Tools

Writing polish tools — including Dialogue, Sceneify, and Expand — have been optimized for better results. In particular, the Dialogue tool now produces more natural multi-character exchanges.

Internal processing steps for Planning Mode have been streamlined, resulting in faster response times.

The AI now evaluates the complexity of your request before processing it. Simple greetings and casual messages get quick replies, and follow-up questions on the same topic reuse previously retrieved information, reducing response time.

More Natural AI Tone

AI-typical phrases like "Certainly!", "Great question!", and "Let me explain" have been reduced. Responses now feel more direct and conversational, like talking to a real person.

More Accurate Q&A Responses

When asking questions in General Mode or with AI Toolbox, the AI now retrieves your story information first, then plans its response. Previously, information retrieval and response planning ran simultaneously, which sometimes caused the AI to miss context. Now they run in sequence for more accurate answers.

Cleaner AI Snippet Suggestions

AI-generated snippet suggestions now contain only prose content — dialogue, narration, and scene descriptions — without mixed-in explanations or analysis.

Improved Chat Text Display

Inline snippets in AI responses now render more cleanly.

More Consistent Response Times

If an internal AI process takes longer than expected, it automatically retries. This reduces occasional slow responses, giving you a more consistent experience.

When you ask questions in General Mode, the AI now processes them through a dedicated pipeline. It selectively draws on your story structure, writing style, and character information as needed, producing more structured and contextually relevant answers.

Better Chat History Restoration

When loading previous conversations, each message type is now correctly identified. Character brainstorming, story planning, and general conversations are accurately distinguished when restored.

Hallucination Improvements

There were frequent cases of incorrect responses even when the necessary context was available. We've improved this hallucination issue.

More Consistent Response Formatting

AI responses now follow a more consistent structure. Similar types of questions receive similarly organized answers, making them easier to read.

When the AI encounters issues while looking up character info or story content, you'll now see a clear, helpful message instead of a technical error.

Draft Writing Mode

A new dedicated mode lets the AI write your first draft. Select "Draft Mode" in the chat to have the AI continue your story from where you left off, automatically picking up from the latest episode. You can also start drafting straight from the editor's command bar without breaking your writing flow.

Review and Approve AI Suggestions

When AI proposes changes to your characters or story settings, additions, updates, and deletions appear as proposal cards — review them and tap the approve button to apply, or simply ignore what you don't want.

Visual Change Comparison for Updates

When AI suggests editing an existing piece of information, you can now see exactly what's different. Changed parts are highlighted so you can compare the current and proposed values side by side before deciding.

Story & Character Reset

You can now reset your entire story plan or a specific character's settings through the AI conversation. When you want to start fresh with a new direction, the AI can propose a clean slate for you to approve.

Character Pronouns

Character profiles now include a "Pronouns" field in basic info. Set pronouns like he, she, or they so the AI refers to your characters accurately when writing.

Ask the AI About Typetak Features

Questions like "How do I use this feature?" or "What are chat modes?" now get accurate answers based on official Typetak documentation. No more guessing.

More Natural AI Responses

The AI now writes in a more natural, human-like tone. Stiff, formulaic phrases like "Certainly!" or "Great question!" have been reduced.

Chat Resets on Project Switch

Switching to a different project now properly clears the previous conversation. No more leftover messages from another project appearing in your chat.

Better Character Card Sorting

Character detail cards with the same category now sort by creation date, so recently added information always appears at the top.

Faster Character Updates

Character information saved during AI conversations now appears on the character page more quickly.

Major Updates

Real-Time Character Updates from AI Chat

When character details change during your AI conversation, the character page updates instantly. New personality traits or backstory decided in chat appear on the character card without a refresh. If a brand-new character is created mid-conversation, it's automatically added to your character list as well.

Character Path Tab

A new "Character Path" tab has been added to the character profile. Alongside existing character details and event ideas, you can now see how a character might evolve and change throughout your story — all in one place.

Chat Source Indicators

Character cards and basic info now show their source more clearly. Information saved from AI conversations displays a chat bubble icon, while details extracted from episodes keep the familiar book icon — making it easy to tell where each piece of characterization came from.

New "Ability" Category

A new "Ability" category has been added to character detail cards. Use it to organize a character's skills, talents, powers, or special capabilities separately.

Improved AI Character Awareness

Character information is now better reflected in AI responses.

Story Mode

You can now design the overall structure of your story before you start writing. Define your logline, genre, and theme, then organize world-building, plot, and direction elements as cards. AI suggests 14 narrative exploration axes tailored to your story's direction and helps you build the right structure for short stories, novels, or series.

Interactive Choice Blocks

Make key decisions right inside your AI conversation. Interactive choice blocks appear naturally during your chat, and your selections are instantly saved to the relevant character or story plan. As a first rollout, these are available in Character Mode and Story Mode.

Redesigned Home Screen

The home screen has been completely refreshed. Your projects are displayed as cards at a glance, and a plot input area at the bottom lets you type a quick story idea to instantly create a new project and jump into story planning.

Character Role Classification

A new "all characters" overview has been added. From this tab, you can view characters grouped by role — Lead, Rival, Supporter, and more — and bulk-change roles across multiple characters at once.

Simplified Character Management

The old system of individually pinning cards and basic info is gone. Now you can simply chat with AI like a regular conversation, and save any elements you want when they come up.

Automatic AI Chat Mode Switching

Four new chat modes have been introduced: Character Mode, Story Mode, General Mode, and Editing Mode. The AI chat mode automatically switches based on what you're viewing. Open a page and it switches to General Mode; open a character and it becomes Character Mode; open your story plan and it enters Story Mode. You can also switch modes manually with the mode button.

More Flexible Characterization

Instead of pressing a button to generate a fixed set of traits, you can now have an open conversation with AI. It designs characters in the direction you want. You can start a characterization session anytime, even outside the character page.

Major Updates

Offline Auto-Save

Your work is now protected even when your internet connection drops. If saving to the server fails, your content is automatically saved to your browser. Once your connection is back, everything syncs automatically.

• A "Saved locally" indicator appears in the editor toolbar when a save fails
• Content syncs to the server automatically when the network recovers
• Navigating away or closing the browser now immediately saves any pending changes

Batch Line Spacing Control

A new option in the editor menu lets you change the line break multiplier across your entire document at once. The tool detects your current average spacing and lets you adjust it uniformly — perfect for quickly changing the visual density of your manuscript.

Move Out of Folder

A new "Move out of folder" option has been added to the page context menu. Move any page out of its folder and back to the parent level with a single click.

Drag-and-Drop Stability

Rapidly rearranging pages and folders in the sidebar no longer causes items to jump to incorrect positions. Multiple consecutive drags now resolve accurately and reliably.

Improved AI Episode Context

AI now finds the correct previous episode when continuing your story. It properly identifies the preceding episode within the same season and story type (main story vs. side story), resulting in smoother story continuity.

More Frequent History Snapshots

Automatic version history now saves much more frequently. More restore points are created over shorter intervals, so you can always roll back to a recent version if needed.

Faster Character Editing

Adding, deleting, and reordering character cards and basic info now updates the screen instantly. The occasional flicker after deleting an item has been eliminated.

DOCX Export Fix
